USB offers computer users the ability to connect and disconnect peripheral devices without the need to constantly re-boot or power off either the computer or the peripheral - true "Plug and Play" computing. Most PC's made since around 1996 will be fitted with one or two (maybe four) USB host ports and most Laptop and Notebook computers will generally have one port. For Laptop and Notebook users the USB port  represents the best

ever method of connecting to the corporate or SOHO Ethernet LAN. The plug and play nature of USB means you can connect - transfer the files that you need - and then disconnect, without re-booting or worrying about anything else, plug in your printer - print your file - and unplug, it's that easy and it truly works. The USB host port on your host computer can also power most small peripherals - camera's, mouse, keyboard, digitizing tablet's, scanner's, printer's, speakers (yes even speakers!) so you don't need a tangle of power adapters under your desk. And the best advantage of USB - you don't need to take the lid off the PC at all just because you want to connect it to something, at the risk of repeating ourselves - just plug it in!
